Benedict Canyon is a long standing notable residential area just north of the Beverly Hills city limits, but still within the Beverly Hills Postal Code. The land itself is in a ravine that runs north-to-south from the lowest point at Holmby Hills to its highest point in the crest of the Santa Monica Mountains. Today Benedict Canyon is the only remaining canyon that is 100% residential due to the efforts of the very active Benedict Canyon Association.
All homes in Benedict Canyon are single-family detached homes, including small historic homes of just 700 square feet originally built to be hunting cabins to sprawling estates with livable square footage into the 10s of thousands. Most homes in the Benedict Canyon were built around the 1960s, but there are some newly constructed homes present in the area as well. Due to the large span of years in which homes have been constructed, there is a variety of home architectural styles within Benedict Canyon including Mid-Century Modern, Modern, Contemporary, Mediterranean, and Traditional. Homes in Benedict Canyon are priced from $1.1 million to over $15 million.
The Benedict Canyon Association has been in operation since 1946. This group of proactive residents and homeowners is completely volunteer run with a mission to “preserve the beauty, safety, and quality of life in Benedict Canyon.” On their website you can see their goals for the year of 2021 to continue to keep Benedict Canyon a premier location to live. The Association is able to complete its work through resident contributions. Residents are not required to become members but are encouraged to be members and can enact membership with a contribution level of choice starting from $100 to $10,000+.
Students living in Benedict Canyon benefit from access to some of the country’s top schools both public and private. The public schools serving Benedict Canyon are part of the Los Angeles Unified School District and the Beverly Hills Unified School District and have received top ratings. Nearby private schools are some of the most recognized and prestigious in the nation, and there are a good number to choose from.
Benedict Canyon is very well located for quick and easy access to countless activities to suit everybody. Downtown Beverly Hills is just a short drive down the hill. Located in the town of Beverly Hills is the world-famous Rodeo Drive shopping area, a number of amazing restaurants, Will Rogers Memorial Park, Franklin Canyon Park full of beautiful hiking trails for those that love the outdoors, and much more. Downtown Los Angeles is only 14.7 miles from Benedict Canyon, or about a 45 minute drive in peak travel times.
